    To Whom it May Concern,

    My name is Brittany Nels and I work for Georgia Right to Life. My objective in writing you is to talk about the Human Life Amendment (GA House Resolution 536). I don’t know if you are familiar with this proposed amendment to the Georgia Constitution, but it has the possibility to change Georgia, as well as the nation, forever.

    In March of 2007, a bi-partisan group of Georgia legislators offered the nation’s first “Paramount Right to Life” Amendment (H.R. 536). If successful, Georgia will become the first “Pro-life” state in the nation establishing the “personhood” of each of its citizens from fertilization until natural death. This is what H.R. 536 states:

    Paramount right to life:
    (a) The rights of every person shall be recognized, among which in the first place is the inviolable right of every innocent human being to life. The right to life is the paramount and most fundamental right of a person.
    (b) With respect to the fundamental and inalienable rights of all persons guaranteed in this Constitution, the word ‘person’ applies to all human beings, irrespective of age, race, sex, health, function, or condition of dependency, including unborn children at every state of their biological development, including fertilization.

    I hope you see the possibilities this amendment offers. By assigning “personhood” to the very smallest form of human life, the embryo, Georgia not only protects the unborn by bringing about the end of abortion, but also attacks head on the terrifying possibilities that the near future holds. Science is pushing the boundaries every day, building a proverbial tower of Babel. Through human implanted nano-technology, trans-human chimeras, human cloning and other horrors of Franken-science, man is constantly trying to “one up” God by ending disease, even death. Their aim is not to better the quality of human life, it is to make the quantity of human life endless. This is not what our Creator intended.

    God has done some amazing things. The fact that this Human Life Amendment wasn’t buried in mounds of bureaucracy and has actually made it to the Georgia House of Representatives to be voted on this term is an act of the Lord. There are so many things that the body of Christ can do to get involved in this fight to restore sanctity to human life. People who live in Georgia can attend the “Together For Life” march at the capitol building in Atlanta on January 22. They can contact their GA House Representative and ask them to support the Human Life Amendment or if they live in a state that doesn’t have any such proposed amendment, they can contact their House Representative and start a petition drive that could drive their state to create a Human Life Amendment for them as well. By informing and then mobilizing the body of Christ, we take a firm, public stand for Biblical Truth and the unborn.

    Georgia Right to Life has the largest Political Action Committee in the state, we provided the language for the Human Life Amendment and work very closely with the Georgia Legislature members who are sponsoring the HLA, we want to work with creative forces like you in the pro-life community. The time for action is now and it is my prayer that all believers will join the battle for human life in unprecedented ways. Your help with this would be sincerely appreciated.
